Prize peony
Hi garden people, I won a gorgeous peopny in a raffle today but unfortunately it had no ID label or care instructions. It's about 2' high and has two big open flowers (pink) and one unopened bud. I looked on the RHS site and they advised planting in autumn or spring. The pot is not very big for the size of the plant so I don't think it should stay in there until autumn.
Could anyone advise me how and where to plant it to give it the best chance of survival?
I'll get a photo tomorrow if that helps.

Sounds like a tree peony. You can plant potted plants at any time. The RHS advice is really for bare-root plants which is often how tree peonies are supplied.
Mine do best in part shade in poorish soil, so no need to add anything when planting it.

OK. That helps, thanks. Maybe if I put a photo on tomorrow someone will be able to give me an ID and an idea of what size it could grow to so I can decide where to plant it.
Isn't it lovely? Any suggestions for a name that I can look up for a care guide?
That's nice
Looks more like an herbaceous paeony to me.
