Anyone know what this is?

HeftyHefty Posts: 370

hey everyone, just wondering if any of you know what this charming ground cover plant is - its teeny tiny but i really really like it

so any ideas what it is? and secondly any ideas on how i can increase its size etc? can i dig bit up and replant it etc?

id b more than happy for it to be ground cover for my entire garden (unless its something horrific in which case ill have to remove it)

big thanks in advance

    ah nice one thanks

ok so next question, is it actually going to be detrimental to the other plants if its allowed to grow more?

i really do like it and would not mind if it was more prevalent but not if its going to be bad for the other plants etc

does it suck up all the water and nutrients or is it harmless but invasive?

    thanks :)

It's Ok with large plants but I should think it's a b........r in a rockery or with little alpines or anything like that

great, i think i can leave it then as that back area of the garden is where the biggest healthiest plants are (sturdy fox gloves, big palm tree etc)

how can i increase the spread (if i wanted to)? can i just lift bits and place them on the ground or do i need to dig and "plant" them properly etc? the roots seem to be very shallow

i really like it, its soft n springy underfoot too which is nice so im more than happy to let it spread :)

any further advice is most welcome :)

It's easy to transplant - just take up some rooted bits and plant by scraping a shallow planting area and watering in  well.  It's a pretty thing in the right place - but do think it through before planting.

It can be really rampant in a shady damp spot.

    ok thats really cool thanks

i might try and spread it or i might just leave it alone to spread naturally - it cant b so bad, ive been living here for 14 years and only been doing gardening for 2 so its kept itself tidy more or less and has not spread so much

    many thanks
