Hi Trevor. I'm sorry but I really don't know if this will help or not. I'm assuming you pruned last July/August and that you cut all the new shoots back to 5-6 leaves. This should have concentrated your wisteria on producing new flower buds as opposed to luxuriant greenery. The only thing I can suggest is that you repeat that pruning routine this July/August and see what happens next year. It looks a lovely healthy specimen.

I hope the OP doesn't mind me bumping this thread rather than start a new one.

I have three mature wisteria growing up a pergola on the side of the house. They were here when we moved in three years ago and I've been following the ''August 6 buds / Jan 3 buds'' pruning regime with nice results.

This year we had a fantastic flower display but it only lasted two or three weeks and I put this down to the rain and winds at the time(?). Anyhow it seems that we are now getting a second flush of flowers starting to emerge. Is this normal to happen? I assume I may have to delay the 'August' prune?

    Thoughts please. Many thanks.

Thanks DHR. I too have been snipping off the 'overnighters' as they appear but in reflection wonder if I've been doing away with potential flower shoots.

    Heres mine today

Yes, the lawns feeling sorry for itself. Difficult ground conditions (ex gravel extraction land). We have low water pressure here so sprinklers are just about useless unfortunately. I'm leaving it to nature this year! In saying that I'll make sure I give the the wisteria some more water. Thanks for the tips.
