Split rhododendum

My 8 year old plant got split in heavy rain it was in full flower can i cut it back or is it lost

    Jim fell off a ladder onto my Rhody and split it , I tied it together and it grew on ok

    Thank u but I don't think that will work as it is split almost to the ground

    A big branch had split from the main bush I bound it together with twine and it grew together , bit like a graft I suppose

    Thank u you and 1 other person have done this so I will give it a go
