Broad Beans

in Fruit & veg
Hi,
My broad beans are almost 4 feet tall and, they have bean pods at the top end but, not at the stem. Do Ineed to pinch out?
I am in North Eastern Spain and the temps are getting high at this time of year.
Should I just let them run as the growing season here is long?
Thanks

I take the tips out, but only to reduce the problem with black fly, I don't know if you have those in Spain. If you have no pests, I'd leave them alone personally.
I'd leave the tops on , if you notice any black fly, that's the time to do it. Last yeas my plants had black fly, I pinched out, rubbed the off further down the plants. They seen to discolour and mark the pods but the beans were fine.
Broad beans start producing from the bottom up so if yours haven't got any lower down it's probably down to a pollination issue. However, the ones you've got look as if they're doing fine - enjoy
