Cucumber

Can anyone tell me whether I should take the little green tendril type shoots off the cucumber plant or train them up a bamboo - do these shoots develop into a cucumber?

Hi Guernsey, the flowers develop into the fruit. I left the tendrils on last year, they wrapped around the canes I put in for support as I was growing vertically in the greenhouse, used a bit of twine around the stem as well to keep them upright.

Thanks for the information Kitty - I wasn't sure what to do with the tendrils but from your reply I assume that they help to support the cucumber plants as they grow. I am also growing mine vertically - I should have taken a picture. We desperately need more sunshine here - but so far the plants looks healthy. I will try to get a pic on here tomorrow.
