Clematis flowers being eaten

we have a very healthy clematis plant which is full of buds but as the flowers open they are being eaten by something. Any ideas

Thanks for all your responses. Seems like you are all agreed. I will keep a lookout for the blight era.
Roll up some newspaper, thoroughly soak it, then place it like a collar round the affected plants.
In the morning shake out...............the earwigs.
