Shrub ID help
A few years ago I bought what I thought was an escallonia as a bare root twiggy looking thing. It sat in my front garden not doing much apart from growing a bit taller and not getting very bushy despite a bit of pruning.
Last autumn I dug it out to make room for a hydrangea and stuck it in the back garden, it now has flower buds developing that don't look like any of the photos of escallonia I've seen online.
To me it looks more like a chaenomeles speciosa 'Japanese quince' but has no thorns. The flowers are a peachy pink colour with yellow anthers (all the opened ones were eaten by slugs, sorry no photo)
I've never grown either of these shrubs previously so I'm a bit stumped. Any help with an ID and/or care advice will be very gratefully received.

Flowering quince. Mine looks like that sadly without the flowers ? x
Looks like quince to me too
I go along with daisy doo and B3, Quince it is.
Thanks daisy and B3
No idea how that happened as it was defiantly packaged escallonia
One of my cheapo impulse buys from b&m, £1.99 in a cardboard box, nice surprise though.
Just need to find out how to look after it now and try and stop the slugs eating all the remaining flowers.
Oops, missed you there tall trees, thank you also
