You won't be feeling bad by the time it's out. I've only ever pulled out little ones in their first year and man do they know how to root.
If you look around you'll find that one of your neighbours has the original. Just be vigilant in future years and you can can catch 'em when they're wee. They are prolific seeders so you haven't seen the end of them.
