Pollinate gerkin??
in Fruit & veg
Hi all,
My gerkin and cucumber plants are doing well. I want to get loads of yummy fruit and I have several single flowers with bulbous bits I can clearly see are female flowers.... There's no male flowers though... Do I just try pollinating them female fruit to female fruit or wait until the plants are much larger and more flowers are about, hopefully with some male ones!
If it helps, the variety I'm growing is Gerkin Diament.
Many thanks,
Natalie

I am growing gherkins, they don't need pollinating, I am picking males off as soon as I see them.
Amazing, thank you Lyn, I was getting worried.
How do you support them best? Mine are in the windowsil.mI had hoped the poly tunnel would be up by now but as it is my first year on the plot I'm running behind schedule with fixing it up. I'm tempted to leave these in my sheltered back garden instead.
