Lena - Clematis are very hungry, thirsty plants so yes, feed it to help it recover. Check the bottom of its pot and if you can see roots, pot it into a bigger one. Either way, check the compost is slug free and then put the pot up somewhere away from slugs.
Posy - what you need is a dry winter. We get much colder ones here as a rule than in the UK and we still get slugs. They just burrow deeper to avoid the frosted layers of soil.

My heart goes out to you Lena it really does. Verbena bonariensis has been mauled and two clematis have beer traps around them but some still get through judging by chewed leaves.
