Hazel

B3B3 Posts: 27,504

For years I have been brutally pruning, what I thought was a lime tree (not the citrus one). Last year, I noticed a catkin and realised that it was probably a hazel.

Bearing in mind that we,are plagued with squirrels and will never get a nut, is it worth allowing it to grow?

In London. Keen but lazy.

Hi B3. I would let it grow. Its a lovely British native and it does make a great plant.

And when it gets too big you can just coppice it to the ground and start again - as you've found, they will always grow back no matter how much you hack at them! image
