As it's difficult to dig up, I gave it all a blast with Roundup - just hope it works before the seeds drop.

There are soooo many I've no idea how they got there

  • Me neither. They are all lined up underneath a tree which the birds use when they come to the feeder. I was wondering if somehow they had help spread it with their droppings?

hmmmm - my neighbour spends £15 a week on bird seed. Most of the garlic mustard is on that side of my garden, so I wonder if it's used in bird seed ?

  • I generally only put out sunflower seed, although I have put out generally mix in the past, and this Garlic Mustard does have a long gestation period by most accounts I have read today (wikipedia etc).

  • Heading out now, will get back to any replies when I get back, thanks.

I'm still doing the lot - I need to get rid of the never-ending seedlings that appear down the end of the gdn.

I'm clearing an area 30 x 30ft at the end of the gdn and turning it into a veg patch g/house area, so I need to kill the lot or i'll be plagued for ever - it's mainly brambles, nettles, alkanet, bindweed etc. So I've hardened my heart and determined there will be no green except for my lovely katy apple tree, then I'll have it all done properly and low maintenance so I can keep it that way

There will be a new wildlife area provided and a 10ft wildlife pond, but the existing one is well outta control and I'm not getting any younger

I use the hoe and try and dig bigger ones up in the main garden, but there's a never ending supply of little uns - what with that and the bittercress I'm forever hoeing brambles (there's a song in there somewhere :)
