    We had Ivy on ours, it didn't look great, plus it spreads along the ground as well as up the pole.  I'm in the process of removing it and replacing it with scented honeysuckle and wisteria.  You could also try a rambling or climbing rose, although the electricity engineers might not like the spikes!

    I stuck a Russian vine at the bottom of a pole across the ally, it grew very well and covered the pole in double quick time. (Mile a minute)image
