Problem With Smoke Tree
I've moved to a new house where the previous owners have planted a Smoke Tree which is well established. I pruned it in March, but it has only produced leaves on a couple of branches and leaves are sprouting from the trunk. What's happened and have I particially killed it?!

I doubt if you've killed it, some people cut these back to a frame work of stumps every year and new stems grow. The leaves on your trunk may be the beginning of that
In the sticks near Peterborough
Bigger and more dramatic foliage when cut back hard, but no flowers!!
Planted my first one last autumn, can't remember the cultivar! But was going too let it settle in for a year before the big chop. Always prefer a shrub I can coppice or stool. I did one for a client last spring and the regrow the was pushing 3 metres
Thanks everyone, good to know I haven't killed it as it's a great tree, I'll be a bit more patient with it and wait for the rest of the leafs to come out. ?
You may it takes a little longer for the buds to break through if the stems were quite old but it'll be back
