Sad Cyclamen

imageI have tried again this year to grow Cyclamen , from seed. Last year was a disaster, didn't even germinate! This year , they have but haven't grown much and not at all , for the past 2 months. They are in 3 inch pots , to give you an idea of their size. What am I doing wrong? By the way , I live in the West of Scotland , weather has not been the best but is it just that ? Thanks for any help  :)

Hi arranmum. Are these the hardy cyclamen? If so are they the spring flowerers or the autumn flowerers?

They look fine to me! Mine self seed where they grow, but they do it VERY slowly. They spend about a year looking like yours, then they get a bit bigger and in about four years they're ready to put out a flower. It's worth the wait, though!

If they're hardy ones I'd get them outside in a shady corner and leave them alone, they'll die back soon and reappear next year, bigger.

Thanks all. They are hardy autumn flowering , so I reckon the best thing to do  , thanks to your advice, is to harden them off and put them out in a shady corner , as nutcutlet suggests. I assume you meant to leave them in their pots though? They're so wee, I'd probably lose them if I planted them out Memory's not what it was! Thanks for your help , one problem solved.................on to the next one  :)

yes, keep them in their pots for now. Don't be alarmed when they die back, it's normal, they'll leaf up again in autumn
