Rose Fertiliser

TadsTads Posts: 210

is there anything I can do ?  I have never before fed roses with a Rose feed, but a friend (a knowledgeable rose gardener i believe) said I could use a product called Horticare Rose & Shrub feed. (Any comments on this product?) which could be found in our local £ shop. Stupidly, i havent been careful enough in the quantity I have used:  ive been too generous & double dosed them, giving them 2 handfuls instead of 1 !!!!!!(Sprinkled it around the bush, dug it in & watered it in).

Is there anything at all i can do to somewhat neutralise this "overdose" on the rose bushes?  ie:  will daily heavily watering help?  or make things worse?  What effect will this overdose have on these rose bushes ?  They are sturdy old roses, hitherto in unfed soil for the past 8 years to my knowledge.  Oh dear, I am agonising that they may die ? Is there any advice out there, which can help me?  Thankyou.

    Don't panic they won't die image  I don't think it'll cause a problem

They may put on a bit of lush growth but as they've not been fed before I wouldn't worry that the overdose is going to be too much for them this time.

oh "thankyou", Verdun!  Couldn't sleep last night worrying about them!  (Feeling rather stupid I didn't read the small print carefully). Feeling a bit better now, "thanx". I won't make the same mistake again!

When we lived in England and my first husband was alive he always fed the roses with double the dose. I used to win prizes with them at the local village show!
