Conifers

Hi

i have cut too much off the top of my conifers, and they are now growing outwards and not upwards, is there anything I can do? Thanks

I was sure I posted here but it disappeared!

    I don't think so Mark.

Once you have cut off the growing tip there's no going back. You could trim them to keep them neat and tidy as people do with conifer hedges and don't cut back too far or you'll end up with brown! Most plants when you cut them back will put on new growth from the cut but not conifers.

    Could be worse! image

Depending on what the conifers are they may add height again, although they won't have the typical conical conifer shape any more.  If conifers didn't put on new growth from the cut area Leylandii wouldn't be a problemimage
