I have never soaked runner beans, they come up easily in damp compost. too wet and they will rot off before germinating.

I've heard of it but never done it. I sowed 80 direct outside 12 days ago and I now have 77 about 3 inches tall. Always worked for me but I do keep the pots well damp...each to their own and if it works for you then carry on image

Never soaked the beans either but am having terrible trouble getting them to germinate like 3% success despite repeated sowings varieties and batches.. Perplexed others having the same problems and very few seedling plants on sale so growers got the same trouble,,??  Berlimey we have a 'Working Edit button!!'
