I've spent a lot of money turning my back garden (local cats toilet) into a wildlife garden. I've built a 10' x 8' x 2' pond and adjacent bog garden. Most of the money went on fencing and blocking easy entrance and exit to my garden. I wanted to be able to sit and watch the wildlife so this hard work and expense has been worth it as i watched two blackbirds bathe in the pond shallow end at the weekend. It was amazing. I'm hoping to see the birds gradually return and maybe some frogs soon. I won't get hedgehogs as there's no way of them getting in but i can't risk having even a small gap in the fence as the cats will find it. I'm so glad i did this although i almost gave up when i was freezing and being rained on over Easter.
Oh how beautiful ? I have christened our little Robin Richard! He comes throughout the day to say hello and he's even started feeding on the feeders very close to our patio table. We were super lucky last week to be visited by a woodpecker munching on the peanuts.

thats awesome!! i also have a Robin friend who comes and will eat from my hand (not everytime)
now he turns up every day and gives me hard stares until i go out to feed him mealworms!!!
As soon as I put mealworms out the magpies descend
we sat in the woodland cafe today and the little robin who's always around perched on our table. my 2 year old son was transfixed
