Acer
Please can you help me, my acer lives next to a pond with a water fall, it is in direct sunlight for most of the day. It is not as good looking as it was when I planted it, what is the best location for a Acer please?

We have our two in pots, with quite strong sun but sheltered from most of the wind, Our neighbour has one that hasn't done so well which is in shade for half of the day & quite exposed to wind. We saw 4 lovely Acers today all grown in pots facing south, not sure if that helps linda - perhaps a photo would give us more information on your Acer, they should be looking at their best at this time of year with newly opened leaves of greens or deep reds.
Many of the acers have quite delicate leaves, and hate wind more than anything. Dappled shade seems to suit a lot of them, as strong sun can also scorch their leaves - the cut-leaved sort are the most fussy. Worth the effort to find the right spot for them though, I reckon.
