Growing Veg near new Damson Tree

I have just planted a new damson tree I bought from a local nursery.  I have given it plenty of manure and it is in a 'raised bed' my question is can  plant   some veg (sprouts for example) within a few feet of it?  Thanks

  • Hi Teressa, I don't know about sprouts, but I grew a pumpkin in the same raised bed as a plum tree last year. The plum was planted the year before that as a 3 year old. I kept them very well watered and got plums and a couple of good sized pumpkins image Maybe quick-growing salad crops would be ok whilst the tree gets established?
