i have never grown dahlias before Have never really been attracted by a flower with no scent,
however, I have been give 8 in a tray just marked "mixed"
how much space do they need? are they hungry? thirsty?

Earwigs alert!!!!!
8 in a tray would indicate bedding dahlias to me which are grown as an annual. They get to about 12-18" high so plant them 12-18" apart.
The colours are great but do watch out for earwigs and the slugs will have a field day!

Thanks, I potted them up yesterday, they look as if they might already have met an earwig!
