Why is my firn dying? It's curling up at the edges and look burnt. It's in a shady area....

There seems to be plenty of new growth. It's looking a lot healthier than mine which hasn't decided to wake up properly yet.
to me it looks as though the old fronds are dying back as the new ones unfurl.
In the sticks near Peterborough
that's normal, they are not curling up but uncurling the new foliage
Oh!!! Thank Goodness! I love my firn!
