New Greenhouse
On my list of MUST haves is a greenhouse. It’ll happen soon and I am going for a 10’ x 8’ as I am somewhat restricted by available space.
Now I have a fairly good idea of what I will grow, (usual greenhouse veggies and raise seedlings for the garden), and what I need to kit it out but I am always interested in the thoughts of fellow gardeners as to what are the essentials.
Go for a solid impervious base or bare earth?
What do you have in your greenhouses that you consider essential?
Advice on here is always varied and a great help.

Woo hoo. New stuff. I love shiny kit!
We (the royal we) levelled an area bigger than the GH and laid membrane. For the floor I have a row of flags around the perimeter to set it on and I brought the big part of these inside to set my benches on. Kind of a 1/4 outside and 3/4 inside if you know what I mean. The centre I filled with stones so that if I had to hose down I wasn't standing in puddles. It works well for me but my friend did the opposite with stones around the outside and flags up the middle as a path. That works for her.
I also have louvred vents and a roof opener because it gets a tad warm in there. I don't use mine in winter so I don't have a heater but I do have a light because I work in Feb/Mar when it still gets dark early in the evenings. Most things are available for retro fit so you'll see how you use it and add accordingly.
Enjoy!
Simon, having moved quite a few times with various G/ houses the last move cured all previous mistakes in that I bought a Robinson, a good well made aluminium which for thirty years has worked perfectly. Costly yes, buy cheap you get cheep. In high winds some around lost everything, mine never moved and not a single broken glass, fingers crossed.
one row of slabs up the middle, the south side dug out lined with heavy plastic and small shingle, this holds water so tomato's thrive on it I use twelve inch pots with large holes in the base, half fill them and plant the tomato then top up with compost every couple of weeks. North side are the benches, home made from solid wood and a heated sand bed. Through the years heating a g/house got more expensive and each method of heating has its problems. The sand bed gives bottom heat to start seed then shelving above means they can be lifted up as less heat is needed. Hang a bubble wrap blanket around the sand box to contain the heat. The rest of the bench for pots the potting bench is in my garage so do not need roomto work in g/ house.
We all do things differently so pick and choose from any advice given.
