Unidentified shrub!

We took this shrub from my sisters garden as she was turning it into a driveway. Its leaves have a velvet feel to them, and these bright blue/purple flowers have just come out.
Does anyone know what it is? We're stumped!

I love them but , for some reason, so do ants!
