No is the short answer.
Marketmore is an old cucumber that is usually grown outside.
Canteloupe Hales best jumbo dates back to 1924, and is a heritage variety, seed guardians grow it on and distribute seed.
old varieties of tomato, especially heritage types are not usually hybrids.
F1 hybrid seeds are usually expensive because the cross between two specific parents has to be made each time, to give hybrid vigour.
Tomatoes such as Sungold are F1 hybrids. 10 seeds to a packet.
Hi iamto. I really don't know if they are hybrids but I do know they are heritage varieties. There has been so much breeding over the years that I would imagine a great deal of our tomatoes are hybrids. Any plant or seed described as an F1 variety is a hybrid - specifically bred to give us hybrid vigour and the best attributes of both its parent plants.
Ok, will that means that if i take a seed from my marketmore cucumber, the plant that i get from this seed will become just like the plant from the seed i bought? ?
Yes,you will have to let the cucumber get really ripe and yellow to get viable seed.
Umm. The daughter plant will not be genetically identical to the parent, even if the parent is self-fertile. For all practical purposes though, the plants should be similar enough to be called identical. Usually many generations are needed before the offspring are very different from the original variety.
