Pear Tree Weird Leaf Problem
For the past two years I have been running into the same problem with a 'Conference' pear tree.
Could anyone help me diagnose the problem.
The buds have just opened and the leaves are long, twisted and curly - sorry for the bad description - please see pictures attached.
I have been growing it in a large plastic 'tug' / pot for the past 2 years (it is not root bound) - waiting till I move house - then I will be planting it in the ground during it dormancy.
I have attached a few pictures.
My other pear trees are in full leaf and are prefect. Could this be a virus? Or even a watering issue...?
I used a permethrin based insecticide just over a month ago as I had a bad aphid problem last year.
When I planted the tree in the 'tug' (2 years ago) I used slow release fertiliser in the compost mixture - but have not added any this year - to make sure the problem is not a fertiliser problem.
I have not used any herbicides near the trees. There are 3-4 trees in close proximity and the others are fine.
I would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer - I am at my wits end.
Many thanks,

I have not ever grown Pears, but last year I had a problem with my 2 yr old Cherry tree, alsoi in a large tub... The leave curled and distorted and I was also puzzled.. Someone mentioned Peach leaf curl and I was advised to either spray the tree affected branchesand leaves with a solution of Bordeax Mixture or you can wet the leaves and them puff the powder on.. Its an old remedy but it worked for me.. This year I have a clean healthy tree with lots of fruit.. So its worth a go..

My conference pear is exactly the same! Planted in the ground last December. I also planted another pear looking perfectly happy and four apples, ok too. I'll be watching this thread with interest...
Thank you pansyface for the link.
I called Ken Muir this morning, as i got my trees from them. The lady called me back within the hour as she wanted to double check (Very impressed with customer service). They recommend removing all curled leaves, making sure to check the soil as well for fallen leaves and burn them. In my case, i'm back to a stick in the ground... She said the tree should recover. Fingers crossed. Keep a close eye on the other pear trees, removing any curling leave asap. Also a winter wash applied in autumn would help.
