Caring for a young apple tree
in Fruit & veg
Hi there! We planted an apple tree in March, and this is how it looks currently.
I've read various tips on how to care it, and some tips contradict each other, so I've been left quite confused. I read one article that recommended pruning aggressively and picking off any leaves/blossoms for the first couple of years. Alternatively, our local garden centre told us to not touch it at all.
As you can see, that one branch is drooping pretty low, unable to keep itself up, and I am so tempted to prune it off. What do you guys think?

I don't know about pruning (isn't it too late in the year anyway?), but I seem to remember that young trees shouldn't have grass underneath, because it's too much competition for their roots. But again, I'm a beginner, so I'm posting this only so that more knowledgeable people can comment on it. (Not much help, am I?
) Lovely tree, though!
Do not pick off leaves, though! The tree needs it to photosynthesise.
