I wish I had a cat :-( I am currently a cat sitter for a friend's cat as he is out all day. I have grown very attached to the cat. He doesn't really want her and I want to bring her home :-(

Dachalover, I really think I'll bring her soon. Can I share something with you and also ask some advice? The cat was really friendly to me for a couple of months. Then I didn't go for about a fortnight and she had changed....she is distant, cold and even biting. I think the guy (my friend, but probably not for much longer) and other people have been playing incorrectly with the cat. I have seen them teasing her with their hands and feet. I told him, this is not right because then she will think our feet and hands are there to bite and scratch. I have made toys for her but he doesn't use them. I think she is lonely and also bored inside all the time. I also saw him handling the cat very roughly, grabbing her and holding her very tight and pulling her tail until she escaped. She seemed frightended but he didn't agree. I was upset and told him off and said he shouldn't do that, but he didn't care.

If I bring her to my house, can I train her out of the biting? She is now also scared to be handled, when previously she used to come to be affectionately and sit on my lap. Can we help her feel comfortable and go back to how she used to be? She is a very beautiful cat and was previously very friendly.

Wakeshine.....this is so interesting as we have one little dog and during the summer 5 cats....I sometimes wish my wife had studied cat psychology rather than the child variety.....she does however have an incredible way with cats.....

Cats always see their aggressors as towering giants .....so the first thing is to come down to her level... .....lie on the floor with maybe some nice things that she will like around you....let her just explore .....show that you are no threat whatsoever ...the caveat is that cats have teeth and those very serious 4 claws.......dogs usually just bite image

Thank you so much for this advice Dacalover. I really hope it will be okay and she will stop biting and running away. It's amazing how quickly she changed...I hope we can just show her more love and affection and she won't feel threatened, scared or annoyed by us.

I have an 18yr old cat and a lively Jack Russell. Both enjoy the garden. Dustybin (found dumped in a black sack as a kitten) likes to help with the propagation of seeds by warming up the soil for me!imageimageimage

Digingdoris, Dustybin looks very comfortable in there. I don't know why cats like to do that. What's your dog's name?
