We have been working on kitten and dog bonding now that the babies are over the flu. No problems with Rasta as she loves kittens tho can be a bit boisterous for Minstrel's comfort. According to the "experts" we should put the kits in a cage where they can feel safe and get used to doggy smells so last night we tried that again and all was calm so we opened the door to let them wander if they wanted.
Bonzo (Labrador rescue with a fear of anything new) started trembling with fear and ended up on my lap being cuddled but became agitated when kitties moved too close. Eventually we put him in the cage while the kittens wandered happily and he relaxed. We'll repeat the process till he calms down but welcome any suggestions to help him along.

Hi Obelixx, I would agree with Logan although I've never heard of putting the kittens in the cage but if it's working then its all well and good ?. Our collie x was and still is very nervous as was similar to yours when she arrived...(being around our one cat), she settled down and went on to mother/raise three kittens later on ?. Good luck!
Cosmos kitten likes to check out my Kindle - and swing from it and chew its corners and grab the light.........
Will carry on with cage thing then. We have the two dog cages and had put the kits in the smaller but have swapped it out for Bonzo's big one. They always used to sleep in them at night but we moved them to the garage when we put our house on the market last April and let them sleep in the living room. He always used to dive into his cage when feeling insecure so it'll seem normal for him if he needs it again to hide from kittens.

Meant to say, and people are meant to be terrified of the big bad Rottweiler. Never have I had a more Gentle, loving dog.....(apart from my Newfoundland years ago). ??
