The £1.77 Morrisons climbers...

In anticipation of my pergola being built, I accidentally bought a bunch of the £1.77 climbers from Morrisons that I've heard good things about on here.

My question is, how large will they need to be before they're ready to plant out? They're all quite sturdy and vigorous looking, but about 12 to 14 inches tall, I would estimate (including pot).

Does it depend on the plant? I've got clematis, honeysuckle, virginia creeper, winter jasmine and hydrangea.

They can't go out yet as the pergola isn't built yet, but as my H took delivery of his new table saw yesterday, it could be finished within the next couple of weeks (if I keep nagging him...). Obviously I'm happy to wait to plant these out if it's too early for the little chappies.

Advice very happily taken - thanks!

With a bit of hardening off, they could all go out now. As they will be growing fast now, If you don't want to put them in their permanent positions yet, I would put them into 5 or 6 inch pots.

  • Thanks fidget and aym! I'm in Dorset. I think I'll repot them as they're tight in their pots right now, and bring them in at night if it looks like it's going to be chilly. Hopefully I'll be able to get them in their permanent spots within the month :)

So impressed with them, particularly considering the price!
