Comfrey tea Turing red?

Two weeks ago I threw a load of comfrey into my small blue barrel, I've stirred it everyday, it's now broken down, it stinks and the water has changed colour. I've seen pictures and videos online of the water turning green or brown, the stuff I have is red-ish... When I stir the stuff it turns green (this is just 'soot' from the remaining stuff at the bottom of the barrel...
I've diluted a little it and poured the liquid on a few plants and so far the plants looks fine, is comfrey tea supposed to turn red?

Hi Chris. As long as it does the job I wouldn't worry too much about colour
