Topbird, have grown toms in grow bags, you can buy a stand thing to grow them up, but I just used netting on the back greenhouse wall to support them, I would think 2 plants would be oK in those troughs. The best ones I have had the last couple of years have been in the veg plot, though.
I was just going to suggest that Brickman - cutting the bottoms out the pots. I did that when I had some cherry toms growing in a conservatory. Each one had a 6" or 7" pot which was then put in a seed tray of compost with holes in the bottom and a tray underneath that to allow water to drain out.
If you're careful about the maintenance of them, you'll get a good crop. We had loads
I also successfully grew a cherry type in one of those deep plastic clematis pots as an experiment. It produced plenty of fruit. They often perform well if they're grown quite hard as they think they're going to peg out, therefore rushing to make flowers and fruit in order to reproduce.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thanks Fairygirl, I'll set it up by the weekend, then post some pics for any more advice.
It's probably time I admitted I was wrong about this new forum. This morning I had a query, I posted the query on here, and got advice from experienced people in a friendly way, that to me is priceless, and will save me valuable wasted time. Thank you to all.

Thanks to all, plenty of solid advise there, I'm so glad I stuck with this forum.
Palaisglide, I think I'll go along with your idea, I've got plenty of those plastic pots, in fact I could cut the bottom out of them.
Ceres, I can't get your link to work.
