Photinia Pink Marble
I have just bought a Pink Marble, however the bottom horizontal stems have pink marbled leaves, but the single vertical stem has plain dark green and red "Red Robin" leaves. Should I cut out the only vertical stem completely and if so, how do I encourage regrowth of marbled vertical stems please?

Hi SHIRE. Yes, remove the stem that has 'reverted' and the very fact you do this will encourage the growth of new shoots lower down.
This is the only vertical stem on the plant and is 50" high. There are surrounding horizontal stems about 12"-15" long, coming out from the base of the vertical stem. If I cut below the first leaf of the vertical, this will leave about ½ inch of the reverted stem. As this is at the centre base of the plant, this seems to be the only place from which new growth can come, so will the new growth also be "reverted"?
Hi again. The reverted shoot will only produce more reverted shoots. I know its a bit of a pain but you mentioned in your first post that you have only just acquired this plant so I would be tempted to take it back to the garden centre and get one that is all variegated.
Thank you. I think you are right, though they only had one other pink marble there, which was rather scraggy, so perhaps I had better take it back and continue looking around. Thanks for your time and advice.
You are most welcome.
