Small corner to fill

I have just had to remove a 40 year old conifer & have been left with a beautiful stump. I also have a lot of left over wood from this tree which I can use. See photo.

I am looking for some advice/suggestions as to what can be done with the space. I would like to make a rockery/small shrubbery but don't know if this can be done using the logs - or is it just stonework that should be used?

Any hints on the possible layout of any type gratefully received.image

Hi drelwin. The logs will gradually break down so rock/stone would be better options but the roots of the conifer would make it rather difficult to plant more small shrubs - just by being in the way - so a rockery built around the stump would be an option, especially as you already have a retaining wall with lovely stones. If you have a little corner in your garden you could make a log pile to provide a home for lots of little creatures.
