Brassicas

Good morning..........I have just cut my last cauliflower which was in a bed on our allotment along with purple sprouting.  I have more cauliflower and cabbage plants I want to plant.  Can someone tell me if I can plant again in the same bed, or do I need to plant somewhere else?  I'm getting mixed messages from articles I have read...........image

You should try and avoid reusing a bed for the same crop, or a related one. However, Charles Dowding, the no dig writer, does say that he does not follow this rule religiously and things work out.

The problem of course is that any pests from one year may remain in the soil until the next year, and the problem will then be much worse. I've seen this with flea beetles which are a real pest in my garden. Another problem is that brassicas will use up the nutrients they like, but I presume if you shove on lots of nice fresh compost, and some feed such as blood fish and bone (is this good for brassicas?) you will replenish the soil.
