Sick plum tree?

Last year I had no plums but this year the three year old tree was full of blossom, BUT the trunk and bottom branch has split.
Please can you tell me what to do to save it. I am hoping that all that blossom doesn't mean it's in its death throws. I don't want to start again as I might not live to eat the plums. Please see photos attached.

I can't see the photo
I would be more worried about a split trunk than excessive blossom. If they all set you can thin plums.
