Need a tree or bush
Hi We're looking for a small tree or largish bush that will survive in clay soil and shade for part iof the day. It should grow higher than 6ft and can be up to 4-5 ft across. We want something that will encourage wildlife and if possible also be evergreen. Any suggestions please?

Sorry - that should say No higher than 6ft tall
Alexandrian Laurel (Danae) might be worth looking at as it thrives in full or partial shade, heavy and wet soil and is very easy to propagate. Plus, it bears orange/red berries in the Autumn so good for wildlife.
It's foliage is used for flower arranging as well so another bonus. However, it only grows to about 3ft tall but it does spread. It is a close relative of Butchers Broom so may be listed as Ruscus Racemosus.
Hope that helps.
