Is it worth removing dandelions from a lawn?

I noticed a chap up the road has allowed wild flowers to grow in his front and side lawns. It looks a lot nicer than a lawn. Still, I try and remove 'weeds'. The worst by far is weed grass, I hate the stuff, big thick soft floppy stems, dominating the lawn. I'm tempted to convert to a wildflower lawn.

I keep them for the bees. Also signifies spring and summer for me.

I remove some and dead-head others. I have lots of flowers which attract bees. The garden has been full of bumble bees too.image

I didn't realize goldfinches ate dandelions.   In my garden they just seem to queue for the sunflower hearts.  I'll have to keep an eye out.

Maybe you haven't seen them because you're a good boy and have no dandelions Verd. If I can get a pic tomorrow I'll post it. It's very entertaining. I'd never seen it myself till last year.

Verd what do you recommend as a "weed n feed" for a lawn which is Over 50% moss and about 10% dandelion. No kidding. There's the odd thistle as well. image I took over this garden year before last and the old bloke was a keen gardener but less and less able to maintain it. I've been maintaining and renovating and ignoring in equal measure working out from the house but the dandeliony lawn is at the front and I'd like it to look presentable without killing myself. There's so much else to sort out that I would appreciate any quick fixes you can give me.

Grass isn't such fragile stuff.  Lots of room for grass and weeds.  We've never used chemicals (and have scattered flower seeds) and the grass still predominates.   We just mow the whole thing as needed.  I wish I could just feel "to each his or her own"  but I do worry about the excess nitrogen from people's lawns or the herbicides wash into the waterways after rain etc.
