Mahonia problems

Help. I have a new Mahonia "Winter Sun" I planted in a container at the beginning of February. It was growing very well and has a lot of new growth on top of the plant, but now the older leaves are turning yellow, have black spots on them and are now all falling off. Is it diseased?
