Geraniums

screscenziscrescenzi Posts: 12

Hi there, I have grown my own geraniums this year and they are now quite big for the shallow tray they have been growing in. I don't want to plant them out until late May but I'm not sure if I should move them into pots in the meantime. Do they like being moved or should I leave them in the tray until I plant them into the ground?

Thanks. Steph

I always pot mine up so they are a bit bigger and stronger before going out in the garden. I don't use a compost with much added fertiliser, or you'll end up with lots of lush leaves and no flowers. I prefer a soil based compost for pelargoniums myself but others may find ordinary potting compost is fine. Good luck with them, I hope you get loads of flowers, its very satisfying. Don't forget if you get any particularly good ones, you can always take cuttings as well. ;-)
