There is a theme here and it’s “next to the fence”.
Why would you not put a trampoline at the other, far end of the garden away from houses? It’s what I and my neighbours all did in my last house, it’s what my new neighbour did until they got a new one and put it bang next to the house and fence. Awesome. Thanks.
A good idea would be to say how much room you have between the trampoline Area and the footings of your home. + Direction of patio in relation to sun. That way ideas could be given on planting a tree. Monty Don planted one a couple of weeks ago and it was instant coverage. Easilty 10 to 15 foot in height and upright and columular. A row of prunus (i forget the name) but it sounds like amanogoa are only a foot deep and grows to easily 30ft, would do the job. They would be costly but worth it if you are planning on staying there. But footings have to be taken into account. With a TPO on them trees cannot be cut either. I feel for you as my garden is a refuge and a necessity. Val
I feel for you as that is really unneighbourly. I would suggest that you erect a sturdy pergola along your side of the fence (if they won't move it) and then grow a quick growing climber/climbing rose/clematis "Polish Spirit" (grows really fast and dense, lovely purple flowers most of the summer. Or you could ask them to sink it into the ground to lower the height. Good luck!
SMP24, have you tried talking to your local council, they can now take action against unpleasant/noisy/harassing neighbours - just a thought, they shouldn't make your life hell.
Seems to be an issue, next to a family house, there a trampoline is used for BMX tricks by teenagers. And I feel a little embarassed when doing the washing up, as it's as if you are looking at them, rather than them looking at you.
I used to live in a terraced block overlooked by about 30 houses, with windows on four floors. And I can't say I ever felt a lack of privacy. We then moved out into an area where there is barely any overlooking - but narrow gardens and patchy hedging. And even without a trampoline, and even with neighbours you get on with, sometimes you'd rather seclusion. And it works both ways. Dogs going out and barking everytime I move in the garden can be annoying too. But we all need to use our spaces, and it's horrible to feel you are excluded from what can be a relaxing escape from perhaps a busy household. Or the screaming and banging that disturbs you through the walls. If it all gets too much, get out and enjoy other gardens and other spaces, otherwise it can hurt your brain and body.
When you are just neighbourly it's easy to take small comments as criticisms, and people get unnecessarily defensive and it all goes pear shaped.
