    How embarrassing that I didn't recognise a rhododendron...  Leaves not what I've usually seen in my defence :-)

    Hi Andy. Did you get a chance to look at the underside of the leaves? I only ask this as the Japanese Yakushimanum varieties have lovely felted lower surfaces in all shades from greys through to warm browns and they are far more refined than the wild type. THe picture you sent looks like my 'Yak' which is one called Percy Wiseman. It has been in my garden for 30 plus years and is still only about a metre and a half tall.

    I love them but haven't any room for any more. But Percy is reliable year after year no matter what the weather throws at him.
