Irrespective of the dog content, I thought the programme was a huge disappointment. Supposedly the Malvern Spring Show, but next to nothing about the show itself. 2 items, one about one of the show gardens and the other about 1 of the exhibitors and 1 plant filled about half of the programme.
Yes I too I thought the programme was a huge disappointment.
All this talk about garden design is not what I want to see or listen about, me I want to see "SHOW" plants especially new one!
That designer who no doubt flown in at enormous expense was in my eyes a total waste of space!
The only problem is when you go to buy anything new or different the response is, it is all sold out, what when I have arrived early on the first day to get plants that are new or different!
You can get lots of ordinary varieties of ordinary plants at get expense but then I can buy them locally, with the proviso that they will be replaced if they fail to grow!
GW and the BBC could have titillated us with a programme from Malvern every evening whilst the show was on!
The point about the limited amount of coverage given to the Malvern Show has been raised before. Coverage every night would probably be over doing it, but a one hour special instead of the normal half hour, and dedicated entirely to the show, would be a great improvement.
The way Monty and co waffled on for half an hour without saying anything interesting, they could easily fill four half hour programmes with ease!.
Ps I have just been talking to an elderly neighbour who was at the show on Thursday, he said it was good, expensive to go in and the food and plant prices were extortionate!
We were there on Saturday. Yes it is expensive to get in and there is no discount for wrinklies! Food and drink prices are always high at these events with a captive audience, but nothing like those charged at places like the Chelsea Flower Show. I did like the revised layout. There seemed to be more room to move around, particularly in the Floral Marquee. We've been going for years and were disappointed last year, this year it seems to be back on form.
I don't agree that plant prices were extortionate at all. I got good hostas at £5 each, callistemon and hydrangea also £5 each. I'm sure some places were charging more but, there were so many nurseries, it wasn't difficult to find plants at a sensible price.
