Magnolia Stelata
I recently moved into a house which has a well established magnolia stelata but is covered in lichen and very few flowers. It only gets sun in the afternoon. Is this a problem of position or should I try and get rid of the lichen? If so how can I get rid of the lichen. Any help much appreciated. Thank you.

I don't thinl that it's lichen that's causing the problem - its more likely to be indicative of the fact the magnolia is growing slowly. I would make sure that there's a good circle of clear grass/plant free soil around the root area and feed and mulch the tree well.
