Camillia sinensis tea plant

a1154a1154 Posts: 1,108

My husband wants a tea terrace (and will sulk until he gets one). I have a nasty slope im not doing anything else with, so i think i will have a go.

I have read they need protection while young, but ok after that. Im in south Scotland, so should be ok i think.

Anyone got a tea plantation??

Camellia sinensis is only half hardy and would really need some protection in the winter - especially in Scotland image If you had a greenhouse or polytunnel it might be ok.

image Gosh I looked it up and that is my new knowledge for today! Thank you so much for that information all54. I would love to know if you and your hubby have success in growing your own cuppa. Good luck!
