From the forum designers' perspective

Well said :) It's always a shock to the system to get used to something new when you've been used to something for so long that it's felt intuitive to use, but I'm sure after the necessary tweaks and testing, the forum will be a great (and free) resource again :)

aym, I presume you work in IT? :) My H is a technical director for a software firm, although intriguingly he doesn't particularly like using forums and social media!

I agree - this is early days yet - I struggled yesterday on my iPhone, but the new format is better on the laptop.

I wish that we had a page of 'Latest Posts' we could glance down to pick out an interesting subject ... maybe it will appear image

The dislike of the new format is nothing to do with not liking change, or not understanding IT.  I worked in IT for 40 years so saw, and welcomed, lots of change.

The dislike of the new format is down to it being so 'user-unfriendly'.  Who wants to scroll up and down screen after screen to see what could be seen on a single view previously?  I suspect there may be a number of good features on the new site, but also suspect there will be few people hanging around long enough to find them.

Dove if you go into menu you can access latest posts . It's irritatingly spread out. But it's there

Can't work out how to edit. Meant also to say if you then click on forum there's a drop down menu

  • aym, don't worry, you're pretty much spot on! I'm sure he's on the spectrum - social communication skills are pretty lacking :) Plus, my 4 year old has just been diagnosed as high risk. He'll probably be a techie whizz, too :)

And yet another thread opened about the new site!

    how many is that, seven?

For goodness sake, of course it's all there, and the reason no one likes it is because it's all spread out and you cant see at a glance the days entries.

i am sure there are several people can make a website, anyone can, it's not rocket science.

Dove  is well aware of how to work the site, she's closer  to it than any of us.

And as said on every other thread on this...there is not an edit button.

    JT53, you're fighting a losing battle here!

    See original post

     Exactly this.

I can't believe what I'm seeing on mobile browser.

2 subjects / messages consume the entire screen.

Whereas before,  1 screen contained an entire page of threads/ messages.

  • aym, absolutely, would love to PM when it's up and running image My nephew was diagnosed with Aspergers when he was 15, and I see so many similarities between my little one and him at the same age. Not into giving a label for the sake of it, dear god children have enough to deal with, but to understand something is to be able to address it image

Seriously, though, my OH has no social skills image He thinks he does, but he just talks at people. That's just a man thing, though, right? (ducks)

William Morris's structure that we should "...have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."  is contravened.  This doesn't work and looks terrible.  The earlier one worked, and looked OK.
