Bad Day

Sophie17Sophie17 Posts: 342
Does anyone else have days where you don't have enough time? I think I'm trying to do too much, I'm building raised beds, built planters, growing what feels like more than the local GC and it feels like utter madness. I don't have enough time in the day. Trying to take everything outside to get hardened off, repotting, painting, drilling, planting, weeding, mowing and watering and I feel like I'm chasing my tail. It's my first year growing everything from seed and now I'm realising how much I love gardening and the process but maybe should have started smaller. Sorry for the rant just needed to get it off my soil and paint covered chest image

Sophie, if you're having a ball then carry on. If it's getting you down then have a rest and start again another day. It all works out in the end.image

Sophie,  I don't think there's ever been a gardener who hasn't said exactly what you have said there.

theres always something, I have lists, then when I get out there I see something else more important to do, so the list never ends.

Try to sort it out in jobs of the most importance, make a list, number them 1 to 10 and try to stick to it, just do what you can, if it becomes a chore you won't enjoy it.

It is hard work, especially when you have a new garden that you want to put your own stamp on, but take it easy, lots of coffee breaks, and don't forget to eat, as I usually do. It's good for weight watchersimageimage

Lyn i am currently sat on my bum scoffing toast and juice, need to re fuel image

I think I may well have a screw loose to start growing everything from seed in the same year that I make planters and raised beds and try and establish borders. I've not got in a huff yet but went to bed last night planning what to do today but have found more needs to be done when I had a look about this morning.

April flew by and I didn't get as much done outside with the rain and snow as I wanted

I just keep telling myself that I only have to build the planters and beds once, the borders are dug in so I'll only have to edge them so next year will be much easier I hope.

I definitely feel like I've learned a lot and I've kept notes along the way to help me again.

Sophie I know how you feel! This time of year is hetic but once everything gets planted out it does ease up abit.

My working day is 10.5hrs ( coffee break at the moment), so every morning I am rushing around like a headless chicken removing over 300 plants from the greenhouse ( all grown from seed) to harden off , checking and watering the seedlings that are still too small to go out yet ,and the ones that have been direct sown and also trying hard not to forget to open up the cold frame.....shattered before I even start work! At the end of the day the plants get put back in their various ' homes' ready to be removed again the following morning!........But I wouldn't have it any other way, as I love growing all my plants from seed, well worth going through this mad stage for a few weeks or so!
