Cherries, Damson, Nectarines
I have orders Cherry - Gisela 5, Damson & Nectarine on St. Julien rootstock.
I had understood that cordons were a great way to grow fruit in a small garden. Now I discover that 45 degree cordons are not suitable for stoned fruit - Why?
I have a 14' long raised bed and thought cordons would use the space best. I will have 3 concreted in posts - how wide apart should the wires be.
Fan trained will take up too much space. I have seen pyramid and dwarf pyramid training - which is best?. How much space between trunks/stems?
I already have a ballerina apple elsewhere in the garden so didn't want another apple and a neighbour has a huge delicious Victoria plum..
I know I've left it a bit late, but I've been away and prepared the ground and posts earlier in April.

According to my neighbour, who is a landscape gardener, trees in the Prunus genus are hard to train as an espalier as they are more sensitive to pruning, and you have to restrict it to the summer months. I imagine a cordon is not easy.
I planted two cherry trees in the autumn and am growing as fans. Both are doing remarkably well one's almost in blossom.
